How this site is funded

Landline Switch is free to use. The site is funded through advertising (display ads served via Google Ad Manager) and may in future include affiliate links to products or services that are relevant to the topics we cover (such as battery backup units or replacement phones).

Display advertising

Ads appear in designated slots on the page, always labelled "Advertisement". Ads are served by Google Ad Manager with AdSense backfill. Ads are:

  • Never shown inside tool step flows. When you are using the device risk checker or power-cut plan builder, there are no ads.
  • Never shown without your consent. Advertising cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie consent banner.
  • Clearly labelled. Every ad slot has an "Advertisement" label above it.
  • Hidden when printed. Ads do not appear on printed pages.

Affiliate links

If we include links to products or services where we earn a commission on purchases, these links will be clearly marked with a label such as "Affiliate link" or "We may earn a commission".

We will never recommend a product because of an affiliate relationship. Our editorial content and tool results are produced independently of any commercial arrangement.

Editorial independence

No advertiser, phone provider, alarm company, or other commercial entity has editorial input into the content on this site. Our guidance is based on publicly available evidence from regulators (Ofcom, FIA, NSI), industry bodies, and our own research.

Tool results are generated by rules engines that evaluate your answers against a fixed taxonomy. The results cannot be influenced by advertising.
