Terms of use

Last reviewed: 20/04/2026

These terms apply to your use of landlineswitch.co.uk. By using the site, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.

About this site

Landline Switch publishes general information and two free tools (the device risk checker and the power-cut plan builder) to help UK households and small businesses prepare for the move from the old analogue phone network to digital voice.

The controller's contact details and ICO registration number are listed on the privacy and cookies page.

Nature of the content

Everything on this site is general guidance, not professional, financial, legal, or medical advice. We write with care and cite official sources, but:

  • We are not your phone provider. We cannot confirm whether a specific device will work on your line.
  • We are not a certifying body. The device risk checker and the power-cut plan builder produce guidance based on the answers you give; they are not a compatibility certificate or a regulated assessment.
  • We are not a medical or care provider. If someone's safety depends on a device or a service, speak to the provider, the supplier, and where relevant a clinician or local authority team.

Always confirm specific product compatibility, service availability, and migration dates with your phone provider and device supplier before acting.

Accuracy

We check every safety-critical page against named sources and record the last reviewed date on every page that gives advice. Facts change. The switch-off programme runs to January 2027 but dates and policies are being updated by Ofcom, providers, and government as the programme progresses. If you find something out of date or incorrect, please tell us using the corrections process.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we do not accept liability for:

  • Loss or damage arising from your reliance on any information, tool output, or link on this site.
  • Unavailability of the site or of any external service we link to.
  • Indirect, consequential, or loss-of-profit damages.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Intellectual property

The original text, design, code, and tool logic on this site are owned by the operator and may not be reproduced in whole or in substantial part without permission, except for personal non-commercial viewing and fair-dealing uses such as quotation, reporting, and review with attribution.

Quotations from Ofcom, gov.uk, and industry bodies are used under fair dealing for the purpose of reporting and review. Rights in those materials remain with their respective publishers. Logos and trade marks referenced on the site belong to their respective owners and are used only for identification.

Linking

You may link to any public page on this site provided the link is not misleading, does not imply endorsement, and does not frame or scrape the content.

We link to external sites we believe are useful. We are not responsible for the content or availability of those external sites.

Affiliate links and advertising

Some links on the site may be affiliate links. Where this is the case it is labelled clearly at the point of the link, in line with the UK Advertising Standards Authority's CAP Code and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008. The site also shows Google AdSense advertisements, labelled "Advertisement". See our advertising and affiliate disclosure for the full position.

Changes to the site and to these terms

We may change the site, any tool, or these terms at any time. When these terms change, the revised version applies to all use of the site from the date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means acceptance of the change.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in connection with this site, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in the courts of your place of residence.
